UX/UI
Project: mycommunitysite
Final Project - Summer 2020
The MyCommunitySite is a simple tool to manage and produce websites for homeowner's association AKA HOAs. It developed and serviced by Shyft in association with Law Firm Becker. As part of the UXD Practicum course we are tasked with a “redesign” in a sense to improve usability as well as customer experience both in improved usability and many times added functionality. The group has created a successful solution by integrating the UXD, Interactive, Client Meetings, Usability Testing, Heuristics and Market Research in to our Research Journey while exploring Wireframe concepts, more rounds of usability testing all the while combining all this to come up with a final solution.
Original Design and Layout
1st round of redesigns: 4 concepts
These are the my own concept redesigns. I believe some of the UI needed tweaking without a total website redesign, just add functionality to improve ease of use and speed deployment of website.
Fixing error codes
The Dreaded 500 | Server Error
Either people aren't reading or in a hurry and the click the wrong button - to be greeted with 500 | Server Error!
Solution was to gently remind them to what to do, so they can do the right thing.
Visually pleasing.
Aesthetics is as import as function
Sometimes cleaning up a few design issues like uniformity form and design will make for better user experience. Nothing ground backing here, just cleaning up the visuals.
Better Functionality.
Easy of function = more usability
WYSIWYG! "What you see is what you get" is hallmark of usability design. By offering easier website build, this might take hands on load off the Shyft and give more power to the users so the can make changes more often as well as much or as little website content as they see fit. It's a win-win!
More Instruction, Tutorials
Creating a webpage for Video Tutorials
2nd best way to learn is visual instruction and adding all the (visual) video instructions to one central place will make it easier for the user.
